Carl Curman was a Swedish physician and amateur photographer back in the 19th and early 20th century, and his work includes cool cyanotype photos of European cities and landscapes. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process which gives pictures a cyan-blue tint, as if the sky spilled onto the earth. Combined with historical places and people, Carl’s cyanotype photos are like scenes from another world.
Carl’s photos are accessible because of The Swedish National Heritage Board, which has a huge database of photographic work. You can visit their Flickr photostream to see more of Carl’s work.
