School violence

17:03
What do you think?

School violence has rapidly increased over the last ten years. Thus, both school staff and parents complain that students have excessively become violent, while other students or teachers fall prey to their fatal actions. Surely, there are many reasons behind school violence, which affect on students in particular and society in general. However, there are ways to help them from such an impediment.

Students turn to be violent for a variety of reasons. To begin with, some students witness violence at home since they were children, because of parents daily arguing; besides, other parents never care about upbringing their children in a proper environment; consequently, children misconduct at school, in order to give vent to their anger. In addition, depression and anxiety may lead students to behave violently, as long as there is one to help or even listen to their problems. Media, particularly movies, are a contributing factor as well; unfortunately, too much violence is shown, regardless of the audience age, and parents do not ban their children from watching. Therefore, they learn much about guns and knives. Finally, bad company encourages students to fear and beat others.

No one can deny that school violence has serious effects on students and society. First, due to school violence many students quit school, but in different ways; some could not go back to school fearing violent students, while others were fired because of their misconduct. Second, some armed students killed classmates and teachers; more to the point, others have lived in horror for long, because of such massacres. Also, violence obstructs the progression of study, and cause disturbing and lack of concentration for students. Third, such behavior leads to chaos and destruction within school, and the rate of criminals and dropouts in society get increased, and not mentioning physical and mental effects of people who get to violence.

Though what we have mentioned sounds appalling, there are solutions. Parents should get closer to their children, listen to them, and help them; they might be busy working, but there must be a time for their sons and daughters. We need to have a constructive media, in which students learn, and even movies but with violent scenes censored. Furthermore, social workers are to be in all schools, to help students solve their problems especially psychological ones. Parents and teachers ought to be in touch at least monthly, in order to give the student the proper guidance. Besides, administrations had better set restrictive laws for those who try to cause violence within school; parents as well should be serious bringing their children, at least by advice.

In crude terms, school violence is increasing, and its effects on students and societies are really horrendous to the extent of murder. Yet, if all sides concerned are serious to cope with the problem, students will never be violent and aggressive.
